Passenger at Concorde2 - 30/01/13

The phenomenally talented Mike Rosenburg, aka Passenger, played to a sold out show here at Concorde2 on Wednesday 30th January. First on stage was local lady Isobel Anderson who played a half hour slot, then the wonderful Stu Larsen took to the stage.

In the early 2000s, Mike was the front man for 5 piece band 'Passenger' who produced a critically acclaimed debut album under a major record label. In 2007 the band decided to go their separate ways and Mike decided to stick with his music, voice, and guitar to see where it would take him. Arguably, this is probably the best decision he's ever made. He then took to the streets and began busking, which has funded his last four records. Not only does busking help pay the bills, but it's also become a way of life for Mike, as he takes real pride and joy in getting to play real music on real streets to real people.


Although Brighton born and bred, Mike's created a huge fan base over in Australia since his first trip there in 2009. By the time Mike returned to the UK, he was by this point selling out 500 capacity venues over in Australia. Meanwhile, over in the UK, his fan base is continuing to slowly blossom. Supporting Ed Sheeran last year gave Mike and his music new ears to play to, and consequently fall in love with his beautiful, humourus, heartbreaking lyrics.

Rosenburg's latest creation, All The Little Lights, is about to be released on February 18th 2013. If songs such as "Let Her Go" and "Holes" are anything to go by, then this album is definitely one of the ones to watch for 2013.

Concorde2 was the penultimate date of Mike's UK tour this year, and all 14 dates were sold out in advance. He's then going on to tour the rest of Europe, of which most dates are already completely sold out in advance. One thing's for sure, Mike loves being on the road, and the experiences and people he meets along the way help inspire his incredible song writing. Although he's been professionally making music for well over a decade now, it looks like it's only the beginning for the insanely talented Rosenburg. Be sure to keep an eye on him over the coming months, and if you get a chance to see him live, be sure to grab a ticket before they're all gone.

The Bronx are coming to Concorde2!

Hardcore punk band The Bronx will be temporarily departing their roots in Los Angeles this February to do a full UK tour. They're currently preparing for the official worldwide release of their fourth rock album "The Bronx (IV)" on Monday 4th February. 

Concorde2 are lucky enough to be welcoming these boys for the opening night of their UK tour on Friday 8th February. We're super excited to be getting first dibs on experiencing some of their new material live before they share it with the rest of the country. 

Bronx fans have been waiting patiently since 2008 for some new rock material from these boys so the wait is finally nearly over, and what could be better than experiencing the music first hand from the band themselves? 

The new record is said to have as much anger and attitude as their previous offerings, but with a more mature take on it, with some of the highlight tracks being "The Unholy Hand" and "Under the Rabbit". Whilst the quintet have taken what feels like forever away from the limelight to work hard carefully producing their fourth self titled album, it seems like they are more than ready to firmly make a lasting mark on 2013.

DJ Fresh Live - Review

DJ Fresh at Concorde2 on 30th November 2011.

From the minute the doors opened, people were skipping the bar and heading straight to the front in order to get the best view. Despite DJ Fresh not being due on stage until around 9pm, the number of people crowding around the barriers was impressive. I enjoyed a drink at Concorde2’s atmospheric bar, sampling the various ciders on offer. 

As 9o’clock approached, the entire room was bubbling with anticipation. It was rumoured that the stage had taken 5 hours to set up, and I could see why – an enormous 3D lit up triangle filled half of the stage, as well as all the band equipment. As the lights flickered into action, DJ Fresh himself stood inside of the triangle, with other band members taking their places. Fleur and Jay, the vocalists for the band, sprang into action, launching into the track Gold Dust with incredible enthusiasm. Following with insanely immense tracks such as Hypercaine, Bigger Than Hip Hop and the number one chart single Louder, it was impossible not to dance like a frenzied madman to their catchy songs. 

Fleur and Jay’s energy and vigour was easily transferable to the audience members, and with the help of a giant video screen in the background the audience were made to feel like we were in the music video itself. The quality of the sound system contributed to this, and although you could feel the bass rippling through your body, it was not at all unpleasant. Electrifying is probably the best word to describe the feeling, and I can safely say they are better live than I could have ever expected. I’m sure other audience members would agree.
